Mar. 10th, 2016 05:26 pmAll right, fellow creative writers, here's the deal:
I'm pretty much down for anything, and am not offended or triggered by much. If I feel uncomfortable about the subject, I will make it my civil duty to contact you personally so you know. Having said that, please don't feel the need to ask me for every little thing. Seriously. It's cool if your character just wants to suddenly come up to mine and flirt with him out of the blue. Or something like that.
Anything beyond assumed consent that's questionable is:
Smut or anything within the realms of exotic or kinky writing. Like seriously bros, he's technically a Disney character. A modern one at that.
Gore like the Final Destination/80s Slasher kind. People don't even die like that in Kingdom Hearts, think of the mental scars you'll leave him.
Mind Reading, let's be honest here, you don't want to dive into his teenage angst of turmoil darkness. You can if you want, but there's nothing worth digging for. I mean, other than his utter devotion to his friends. Do you feel sick yet?

Species: Human
Appearance: Frontal image
History/Background: Wikia
Personality:
From a very young age, Riku has strived to be strong in order to protect the things that mattered the most to him. In this case, it’s his friends. For instance, during Sora’s slumber, it was Riku who was working with DiZ and Namine to help restore his memories in order for him to wake up. He went as far as wholly accepting the darkness if it meant getting his friend back. This is particularly important because Riku went through the trouble of staving off the darkness, and keeping it under control. Riku also chose to stay behind to help the King close the door to Kingdom Hearts.
His determination comes from within, and even as a child Riku aspired for things beyond his reach. In the first game, he pushed to have the raft made so they could travel to other worlds. In more recent events, his aspirations have been watered down to more modest things, such as wanting what's best for his friends. (i.e. Like making Sora and Kairi happy.)
Riku has a strong sense of justice. When he learned of DiZ's true intentions of revenge, Riku became disheartened. When striving to awaken Sora, Riku was told that Xion was necessary in order for Sora's memories to be restored. Instead of forcing her to return, he had given the option to choose what she felt was right. It’s important to realize that even though Riku will stoop to levels that will permanently damage him, he would not inflict unto others with such means to justify the ends. He’s a kind hearted person. Xion asked if he hated her because as long as she existed, Sora couldn’t come back. He merely explained that he was just sad. Rather than follow DiZ’s orders to off both Namine and Axel, Riku chose to let them escape, not believing in DiZ’s rash methods.
He is smart and inquisitive, Riku was able to undermine and thwart the organization multiple times, as well as leave hints for Sora to help guide him along. One of his stronger traits is that he pays attention to detail; the same way he came to the conclusion that Xion had consequently taken Sora’s most precious memories, the ones of Kairi. At the same time, Riku can be dense and illogical. For example, he shouldered most, if not all, of the responsibility. He takes it upon himself to correct what's wrong and make things right, and in doing so he took on Ansem's form by accepting darkness. He confessed that he used Xehanort's Heartless to achieve his goal, but in doing so, the darkness had invaded him.
Riku is generally very goal oriented. While it’s not prevalent anymore, Riku was the one who insisted they travel to other worlds. He was the heart of the operation and continuously nudged Kairi and Sora to build the raft. Without Sora and elicited by Maleficent he worked to find Kairi, and then fought to bring her heart back. He stopped at nothing to accomplish these goals, and dirtied his hands in doing so.
Despite evidence of being a protective and reliable friend, this wasn't always the case. Namely during the periods where he was with Maleficent. Riku's insecurities were fed and encouraged. He was uncertain of his relationship with Sora and when given out of context engagement where Sora and his other friends were working together, Riku started to believe that his best friend replaced him. It was also during times like this where the darkness in Riku's heart began to grow into something more. He challenged Sora's motivations and whether Sora even cared about Kairi.
Sora is a special case for Riku, being one of the the most important people in his life. Sora has many qualities that Riku admires, and says so on several occasions. “I wish I could live life the way you do, just following your heart.” Yet, even so, Riku remains the one that has to bail Sora out, and was a key part of helping Sora awaken after Namine put him to sleep. What Riku admires the most, is how strong Sora is, and his imperviousness to darkness. Kairi is equally as important to him. He went through the trials of trying to save her in the first game (independently of Sora). Riku’s feelings for Kairi differ from Sora, and it was alluded by Kairi that he had “changed” somehow.
Even with his faults, Riku still has the ability to grow and change. Riku became self-aware of the darkness he carried in his heart. He worked diligently to keep that darkness under control. By recognizing his negative traits, particularly his weak heart, he worked to become a stronger person. During Chain of Memories, Namine tells him that becoming strong doesn’t necessarily mean fighting the darkness, and this is a key part of the decisions he makes in later installments.
Carrier: German Shepherd, a loyal and noble companion that protects others instinctively, and fails to understand the meaning of play. Don't expect him to fetch the stick you toss. He ain't your boy.
